Titan AE

Just watched Titan AE (finally). I had planned to see it at the movies, but sort of missed it due to a short screening period. It was quite good, the character animation is hand drawn, and all backgrounds and big space fighting scenes are a combination of hand drawing and CG. Leading voices were supplied by Matt Damon, Bill Pullman and Drew Barrymore. Some of the aliens kind of annoyed me, as they all seemed to be derivatives of Australian animals, eg. Kangaroo, Wallaby etc. The big bad Dredge were cool, some sort of energy based life form hell bent on wiping out the human race. Also interesting to see Joss Whedon (ala Buffy & Angel) in the screen play credits. US character animation really has its own distinctive style (Disney). I do prefer Japanese style characters though, with their generally sharper look. I just saw Final Fantasy though, so that's sort of distorted my perspective on what to expect in these movies.
