Plans for the next few months..
Uni starts back this week, I'm doing two management subjects in International Business and Service Operations, and two computing faculty subjects Programming for Business Applications (hah!) and Information Technology Project Management (hah!). So two challenging and two easy subjects. I haven't done a four subject load for years, so this should be interesting.
A trip to Europe around June-July is also looking pretty likely, taking in Germany, Austria, Switzerland at the least. I've been doing small bits of consulting and testing work here and there. I landed the best job last week technical testing DVDs ahead of their release. Paid to watch sci-fi, could it get any better? I'll continue to do small bits of consulting and development work as it suits my time over the coming months, but it's certainly not my focus, although interestingly enough I've had three seperate job related phone calls this week, all leads via this site.
I'm still keen to finish my private pilots license this semester, which means pulling my finger out and doing a serious amount of both flying and theory. We'll see how I go with my uni study load. I never intended it to take so long, but I just haven't dedicated the time to it lately and haven't even sat in a pilots seat in the last six months.
Future career direction decisions are essentially on hold until I finish my Business degree, however I will say that making the major shift to a flying career is starting to lose it's charm as I face the reality of the incredibly competitve employment market up against pilots with thousands of hours civil and military flying experience who are unable to get jobs, what hope do I have? Yes, possibly an over defeatist attitude, but it's also realistic one.
